Roth IRA Updates
The next two NaviPlan Standard releases will help advisors capitalize on the Roth IRA changes coming into effect in 2010.
Version 11.2.0.8*
With the income limit on participants in Roth IRAs disappearing permanently in 2010, NaviPlan Standard version v11.2.0.8 will help advisors introduce their high net worth clients to Roth IRAs.
In light of the market downturn, tax-free growth during market recovery may help to lessen the blow for high net worth clients who were previously not allowed in Roth IRAs.
New functionality in NaviPlan Standard v11.2.0.8 will enable advisors to defer the taxes resulting from Roth conversions done in 2010.
For clients that have previously converted to a Roth IRA, NaviPlan will include functionality that enables advisors to account for their client’s previous strategy for deferring taxes.
NaviPlan Standard v11.2.0.8 was released in November 2009.
Version 11.2.0.9*
New functionality in NaviPlan Standard v11.2.0.9 will enable advisors to select the source from which the taxes will be paid to ensure that the client can maintain as much in the Roth asset as possible. Also, a new report allows advisors to illustrate how clients can maximize the benefits of their Roth IRA conversions.
Roth IRA Conversion Comparison Summary report – available in NaviPlan Standard v11.2.0.9, this report will demonstrate the effect of converting one or more traditional IRAs to Roth IRAs using the client’s entire retirement investment portfolio.
This report is ideal if you’re recommending a conversion strategy for your client because it enables you to illustrate the benefits of your recommendation in terms of taxes paid and assets that will avoid IRD.
Alternatively, this report is an excellent sales tool. Use it to educate your clients about the considerations and benefits of the conversion.
